The Rays through the Triad of Earth Signs Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Rays Focusing through Taurus Fourth Ray of Harmony Through Conflict. At this time in evolution only the Fourth ray is comfortable issuing through the fixed earth sign of Taurus. This sign is of primary importance, since Alice Bailey teaches it is the sign responsible for the enlightenment of the new age. This makes sense, since Vulcan, whose key phrases are ~the way of return~, ~the self revealer~ and ~bringing to light what is densely hidden~ is the esoteric ruler of Taurus. With the artistic ray focusing through this practical and industrious sign, it is mainly the esoteric influence which plays a dominant role as the development of intuition, foresight and auric visions are major cosmic intentions. Man is always searching for better ways to serve his own advancement. In the evolutionary sense, Taurus is the sign which is aching to conceive and to perceive. Keen perception and quick intelligence are gifts of the fourth ray of cultural interests. The highlights of this resting ray urge mental balance as the study of life’s hidden or intangible forces, and the creative utilisation of tension. Instilling the principles of truth and beauty, the Fourth ray is the ray of humanity. Taurus acts as a practical and sympathetic sheath for the cultural minded expression. Those with Taurus planets have the karmic responsibility to enlighten themselves in preparation for shedding new age light. Associated with this sign are nature’s law and the Animal Kingdom. Taurus under the Fourth ray for all his practicality appreciates the arts and seeks out the beautiful. He learns to use foresight, and is ready to examine his own negativity.
Rays Focusing through Virgo Second ray of Love-Wisdom Sixth ray of Devotion-Idealism Throughout God’s kingdoms on earth, the Second ray’s ideal motivates for peace and goodwill as this is the dominant ray of earth. All of the other rays are in sympathy towards its wise and loving impartations. Evolution is the reason behind the Sixth ray’s devotions and idealism energy. By evolution we mean the gradual process toward perfection and the response and reactions to those unfolding experiences which produce betterment. The predisposition for detail and the utilisation of wise use of energy, which are the spiritual impulses under the Second ray, combine perfectly with Virgo’s traits of detail mindedness and analytical inclinations. This is a discriminating sign which serves to clarify the universal reasons for unification. The Second ray’s love for the Animal Kingdom is understandably and natural here issuing through the mutable earth sign. Both the Second and Sixth rays are similar, both loving, loyal and devoted. But whereas the Second is all-embracing love, the Sixth ray is attached to a one-pointed objective. This single-mindedness of purpose may be parental, religious, or a practical goal such as attaining wealth. It is interesting to note that sexual problems arise out of the misuse of the Sixth ray, or the fuelling of desire. Virgo’s characteristics supply the attention to detail, so necessary in the practical world, and the analytical power to overcome excessive and fanatical emotions. Virgo under the Second ray is a servant of the universe, a natural healer using harmony. Virgo under the Sixth ray is a servant to one ideal, person, place or thing.
Rays focusing through Capricorn First Ray of Will-Purpose Third Ray of Active Intelligence Seventh Ray of Ceremonial Order Self preservation is a Capricorn instinct. With that fundamental basis along with the predisposition for self government, the cardinal air sign and might first ray are companionable. Through the frequency of Vulcan, sacred planet of the resolute First, practical application of spirituality becomes possible. Capricorn is said to be the gateway out of life and holds much mystery, some of which can be gleaned through the world supply, the unicorn or one sighted vision (all seeing third eye). Under the First Ray Capricorn’s resolute purpose is indomitable as God’s will is working through the sheath. This is ~will~ concentrated in expression. With the Third Ray issuing through the executive sign, concentration and organisation are the keys. The natural flow of abstract thinking finds concrete release and the impulse for continual release nourishes on patience. There is clear vision into the mysteries of life followed by fertile solutions. Discipleship is served by the philosophic Third. The Seventh ray is a force for initiation especially the first initiation {actually undergone on the astral plane}. This is the Taurus versus Scorpio crisis and the redirecting of the sacral energies to the throat center where intellect thereafter rules. It is Capricorn which is the pure initiatory channel. For the wisdom of the perfection striving Seventh Ray comes the following advice. He who wishes to control the working or release of his Soul must become familiar with the heavenly order of things, that is the hierarchal ranks from the lowest to the highest. In this way, through knowledge of God’s order he can invoke angelic assistance and become apprentice to a Master {a perfected man}. Capricorn easily receives ceremonial Seventh ray energy through its basic nature for organisation, performance of duty. Instigation of and maintenance of groups is part of the overall intention, and mastering the intangible world through diverse faculties. We cannot forget the sexual emphasis of the Seventh Ray, sex manifesting as spirit fusing with matter; as Soul thrilling to its ray impulse; and as physical unity for reasons of procreation. The purity of elevated sex breaks down when emotional desire creeps in. Capricorn and the Seventh ray lead a man to initiation and sexual energy is playing a major role. The education toward that end is a Third Ray matter which is easily flowing through Capricorn. Capricorn under the First Ray is a supreme ruler, a governmental head, a master of life. Capricorn under the Third Ray is an executive intellect, the true spiritual healer who heals by allowing himself to be a universal transmitter. Capricorn under the Seventh Ray is the occult master, the skilled politician.
